Venetian Plaster

Venice FlagVenetian Plaster, Stucco Veneziano, receives its name from a finish coat applications architects and artisans usually reserved for interiors at the time of the 15th Century Republic of Venice. Derived from limestone, Venetian Plaster cured to a very durable finish surface and many original applications remain to this day.

Essentially, Venetian Plaster as we know it today is a refined Marmorino where the sandy aggregate has been replaced with marble dust. The resulting Grassello di Calce putty (Fat of Lime) allows the plaster to be applied in successively thin layers and burnished to a mirror shine.

Of entirely mineral composition, Venetian Plaster is a green material, completely non-toxic and mold resistant.
